Professional WEEE (and special waste)

During 2020, a total of 9,378 tons of special waste were treated, of which 4,171 tons of Professional WEEE. The quantities managed were down compared to previous years, with a fall of 55.7% with respect to the results obtained by Ecodom and Remedia in 2019, and by 34.0% compared to those of 2018.

This decrease is a consequence of the strategic choices put in place by the new System which, as from 1 July 2020, decided that Erion Professional and Erion WEEE Collective Schemes would exclusively manage Professional WEEE, transferring the management of other special waste (metals, packaging, end-of-life vehicles, components, various other waste) to the operating company Remedia TSR.

Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has imposed the temporary closure of a large number of companies throughout the country, resulting in a decrease in the production of special waste in the first part of the year.
