Waste Batteries and Accumulators

During 2021, Erion Energy managed 23,561 tons of Waste Batteries and Accumulators (WBA) of which 22,225 tons are Automotive Accumulators; 1,325 tons Portable Batteries and Accumulators and the remaining 11 tons Industrial Accumulators.

In 2021, the collection results for WBA decreased by 22.8% compared to 2020. This result was mainly due to the decrease in the tons of Industrial Accumulators (-97.6%) and Automotive Accumulators (-23.5%) collected by Erion Energy, as a direct result of the decision to hand over part of the management of these types of waste to the operating company Interseroh TSR Italia and due to the strong commercial competition in the lead-acid battery sector. By contrast, there was an increase in the collection of Portable Batteries and Accumulators (+27.6%) compared to the previous year, due to a new important Producer Member joining the Collective Scheme.
