Waste Batteries

The operational activity of the Erion System associated with Waste Batteries for logistics and treatment processes, while taking into account the environmental impacts of transportation and processing, allows for the securing of environmentally critical fractions and the recovery of secondary raw materials, generating environmental benefits in terms of saving natural resources, energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and water consumption.

In 2023, thanks to the proper management of Waste Batteries, over 1.1 thousand tons of CO2eq were avoided, over 3 million kWh and over 1 million m3 of water were saved.

Recycled Materials from Waste Batteries

In 2023, there were 4,213 transports for the collection of Waste Batteries, approximately 4% fewer than in 2022. This decrease correlates with a 42% reduction in the volume of waste collected, primarily due to an increase in the collection of Portable Battery Waste, which typically weighs significantly less than the average loads of industrial and vehicle batteries. The service level achieved for Waste Batteries was 96%.

Proper management of Waste Batteries allows for the recycling of materials such as iron, lead, zinc, and aluminum, which can be used in the production of new products.
